Vancouver, BC - Only three months after her highly publicized marriage to Vancouver Sun extreme sports columnist Ian Walker, platinum selling Bodog Music recording artist Bif Naked revealed Sunday in a candid radio interview with noted Canadian television and radio personality George Stroumboulopoulos that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"It is a very surreal situation for Ian and I at this time. Two weeks ago, I was doing a self breast exam and discovered a lump. I went into my doctor for a checkup and he immediately sent me for tests, including a mammogram, which indicated a high possibility of cancer. From there, things have gone at what seems like light speed: biopsy, blood tests, cancer clinic. It's been two weeks from being completely healthy to cancer patient with surgery, radiation and chemotherapy scheduled," explained Bif.

Bif Naked is currently in preproduction on two new albums. The first is the highly anticipated sixth Bif Naked album, following her 2005 release Superbeautifulmonster. She has also devoted herself to a second recording project, Jakkarta, with Spanish-born, death-metal guitarist La Machina. The music of Jakkarta revisits the heavier sounds of Bif's roots and the gutsiness of her early works.

"I plan on taking it one day at a time and to tackle this with a positive attitude," Bif told George on his nationally-syndicated radio program The Strombo Show. "I have never been one to give up when an obstacle is placed in front of me. I am in the fight of my life, and I'm lucky to have the support of my husband Ian and many friends and family members. With the help of my Bodog Music family, I plan to continue working on these recording projects in between the cancer treatments and come out the other side with two great albums and a clean bill of health. "I'm glad it's me and not my mom," Bif continued.

"I'm glad it's me and not my sister. I'm glad it's me and not any of my friends. I am ready for the fight."

Bif Naked's career has been built on her tireless touring, performing and recording. Additionally, her efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle and straight edge obedience are Bif's badges of honor. Her diligence in maintaining the diet of a live food vegan, a stringent workout ethic and yoga schedule keep Bif centered.

Bif notes, "It is important for everyone to understand that cancer is non discriminatory and even those in great health can be subject to cancer as a diagnosis. I urge all women at every age to self examine and go for scheduled mammograms. Early Detection is the best tool in the fight against cancer."

the early-bird submission deadline draws near...

ARE YOU IN YET?

Musicians: Get your early-bird submission in for next June's festival. Until January 1, it's just $25 to get your act onstage in front of fans and key industry pros at the talent-fest of the year. From January 1 on, it's $35 to submit. So save yourself some last-minute stress. Spend the ten bucks on guitar strings, drum sticks, holiday gifts, or, okay, booze.

The final submission deadline is January 31/08. No extensions-this ain't a homework assignment. Visit www.nxne.com to apply.

"Thousands of artists showcased by NXNE directly to key music and film executives. This is where you bring your entertainment vehicle if you want serious industry attention."

- Rob Halford, Judas Priest

Filmmakers: Put away that Stanislavski (before you go blind). NXNE film submissions run for another six weeks, until January 31. For just $20 (or $40, if you dick around till after January
19), you submit your festival application electronically-follow the links at www.nxne.com. NXNE scoops world premieres and brings cool film folks to town-without any fawning speeches or fashion gossip. At NXNE films, music is the star.

And there's an industry conference featuring tell-all celebrity interviews and no-b.s. music-biz panels. redpipe.ca presents North by Northeast XIV rocking Toronto June 12-15, 2008.

So why are the NXNE dudes throwing a party in October? Two reasons:

a) They're serving notice that band & film submissions for the festival open on November 1, 2007.
b) They'll use any excuse to put some smokin' indie bands on stage and hoist a few cold ones.

If you're a musician: Prepare to submit! Not sexually, not politically-well, not yet, anyway. But while buffing the handcuffs, get your NXNE application underway for next June's festival. You've got from November 1/07 until January 31/08. Now, this ain't homework, so no last-minute heroics, okay? Go-now!-to www.nxne.com and follow the links to send NXNE your funky electronic press kit through SonicBids. It'll cost you just $25 to get your act onstage in front of fans and key industry pros at the best talent-fest of the year.

If you're a filmmaker: Film submissions for music-related features, shorts, docs, and animated shorts run from November 1 through to January 31, so put down the Stanislavski and finish that edit. For $25-less for a short-you skip mailing in forms, press kits, and DVDs. Instead, submit your festival application electronically-www.nxne.com has details. Just like that other Toronto film festival, NXNE scoops world premieres and brings cool film folks to town-without any hassles, pretentiousness, or fashion gossip. At NXNE films, the music is the star.

"Toronto's NXNE Festival is the most teeming, throbbing and wriggling snakepit of excitement in this half of the continent, maybe even the whole landmass!" - Guy Maddin, director, Brand upon the Brain

MOBY SIGNS TO MUTE NORTH AMERICA

June 15, 2007: Mute North America is proud to announce that Moby has joined the label's esteemed roster. Moby – who is currently in the studio working on a new album - will now be signed to Mute exclusively throughout the world.

"I've been on Mute everywhere in the world except for North America for the last 14 years, now I'm finally on Mute for North America," says Moby. "I'm happy, because Mute has been my favorite label for most of the last 25 years, and it's nice to finally be on Mute in the country where I actually live."

Since signing to Mute UK in 1993, Moby has sold more than 20-million albums worldwide. His career has been a story of extremes and paradoxes. This intense, driven individual has been a hip underground New York DJ and a punk rock drummer, a determinedly ascetic maker of euphoric dance music, a highly aware environmentalist and social commentator who jumps around stage like a dervish and, finally, a sharply astute advocate of alternative lifestyles who is also one of the biggest music stars in the world.

In addition to working on material for the new album (release date TBD), Moby has launched a redesign of his website.
